Industrial Decommissioning and Structural Demolition

Full-Scope Demolition, Environmental Abatement & Site Restoration
Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Client: Graphic Packaging International

Melching completed 100 percent demolition and site clearance of the former Graphic Packaging International paper mill at 79 E. Fountain Street in Battle Creek, Michigan. The 300,000 sq. ft. multi-level facility included a large boiler house, tall industrial structures, and extensive paper and pulp plant infrastructure.

The project required full environmental abatement, universal waste removal, controlled structural demolition, material separation, on-site concrete crushing, and final site restoration. With an active Amtrak rail line directly adjacent to the demolition area, Melching’s crews executed the work through careful sequencing, constant monitoring, and close coordination with railroad stakeholders.
